Last year we had a couple of crashes in our app and we couldn’t figure out how they happened.
While I was riding the ICE (German fast track trains with bad internet) I figured that many pages and apps have issues with an unstable internet. As I figured our app as well.
Usually, we test slow internet with an internally configured edge network.
But it seemed this was not enough.
The problem isn’t solely that the internet on the train is slow. The main problem is that it is changing a lot. From no connection to high speed to a slow network.
Our initial solution was to use a Mac as a hotspot and configured the speed of the internet.
To do this we use the Network Link Conditioner and change the internet speed while manual testing.
